Public policy paper on safety and health (2020)

This worldsteel public policy paper on water management explains why a holistic and balanced approach is required for water policies.
It also looks at the factors that should be taken into consideration to achieve the optimal use of water in the steel industry.
Finally, it highlights the areas legislators and the industry should consider when managing and setting out their water management approach.

Public policy paper on co-products (2020)
Co-products are valuable materials produced alongside or as a consequence of the production of steel.
For example, steel industry process gases are used as sources of heat and electricity; dusts and sludges are used as alloying elements and slags have a wide range of uses in road construction and cement and fertiliser production.
This public policy paper highlights the areas legislators and the industry should consider when managing and setting out their approach toward co-products.

Sustainable Steel: Indicators 2019 and the steel supply chain
worldsteel's latest materiality assessment confi rmed that the following seven focus areas are of key importance for our stakeholders: climate change, co-products, product applications, recycling, supply chain and water.
This year our focus area was the steel supply chain. An outline of the research we carried into this topic is included in this publication.
